Cathryn and Cooper married at Wineglass Falls, Hillcrest. Their wedding was enhanced by the inclusion of Cook Island ceremonial elements in their reception. The colour-filled and emotion-packed event was photographed by Sue Reilly Photography.
The day started with a chilled session with the groom’s party. We then photographed the glamorous bride for her bridal preparations.
From there, we travelled to Wineglass Falls, a Logan part that is very popular for weddings. A major reason for its popularity is that there is a large community hall next to the ceremony location, and it is ideal for DIY receptions. Hence, no need for travel between the different wedding venues.
The outdoors ceremony was held in the park’s rotunda, overlooked by the massive science-fiction styled communications tower. It was a movingly emotional ceremony with the bride alternating between exuberance and tears. Her handsome husband lovingly supported her throughout.
After location and group photos in the park, we entered into Pacific Islands themed hall for the reception. The Pacific Island was reflected in the table decorations and the fabulous shell-decorated cake.
As well as the standard reception events of speeches, bridal waltz and cake-cutting, the reception was distinguished by a colourful Cook Island welcoming ceremony. The bride was presented with a flower garland and the groom with a flower lei. The seated couple were then presented with brightly decorated linens and blankets.
It was an amazing day and a pleasure to photograph such a unique event. We love to photograph weddings involving special cultural or ethnic elements, so please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are intending to have such a wedding.
