Delightful rustic, DIY, country wedding photographed by Sue Reilly Photography on a farm at Ocean View, Brisbane.
For Amy and Daniel, there were a number of elements that were very important to them in their wedding. They wanted small and intimate. They wanted a gorgeous rural location. They wanted horses (well Amy more so than Daniel). And they wanted a sunset. Amy also happens to love one of my favourite photographers, Hoffer (a US wedding photographer), which I thought was so fabulous!
Amy and Daniel’s gorgeous day went as planned, enhanced by beautiful, hand-made DIY decorations – from the flowers to the cake itself (made by a wedding guest).
The bride got ready in a country farm-house on the property. She was assisted by her lovely bridesmaids, and her very proud, and emotional, father. Having difficulty with the button pieces on the back of the dress, her father resorted to his trusty car keys to assist – and they worked perfectly! The bride did her own hair and make-up, with her gown being supplied by CocoMelody.
The ceremony was outside the farmhouse, surrounded by hills, and watched over by the beloved horses. The guests sat on beautifully covered hay-bales which dove-tailed right in with the rustic theme. Amy was walked down the aisle by her father. The wonderful wedding celebrant was Gwen Clayton.
Following the ceremony we headed off to a nearby ridge with fabulous views overlooking the Brisbane Valley for location photos, finishing the session in a gorgeously dilapidated machinery shed. In the shed, pride of place was given to an old tractor – which featured in quite a few photos!
The reception was held on the farm-house veranda.
