Dramatic, colourful and emotional – all great descriptors for this fabulous wedding at the heritage listed Coronation Hall, Somerset in the Brisbane Valley.
The groom’s party got ready in house just a few minutes’ drive from Coronation Hall. The groomsmen had all known each other for quite a while and the mood was relaxed, fun and with lots of comic moments. The groom was a natural!
From Somerset, we drove a short distance out into the country to where the bridal party was getting ready. They had decided upon Mt Beppo Hall. This was a fantastic venue for bridal party preparations – plenty of space (both for the bridal party and for the children to run around), generous natural light and lovely country views. The bridal party was very organised, having arranged access to a large, gracious tree with a nearby farmer so that we could get some amazing wedding dress photos in the rural setting that both the bride and groom loved. The bride’s amazing dress was supplied by Exquisite Gowns by Yvonne.
The wedding itself took place at the iconic Coronation Hall. The very moving ceremony was conducted by Geoff Mazlin. He designed the ceremony in consultation with the bride and groom so that the ceremony included several elements that were very important to them. The unique elements included a special presentation from the bride and groom’s parents as they gave their formal blessing to the wedding. Then came a speech by the bride’s grandmother which had everyone in tears.
There were also some unintended humorous moments – the bride’s ring required some encouragement to slide on, and the bride’s son was keen to be involved in the ceremony. He came up for a hug just as the celebrant was obtaining the rings. He also wanted to add his signature to the wedding certificate – a moment that the celebrant was able to incorporate!
Following the ceremony, we headed off-country on dirt roads in search of sunsets, horses and some great moments for wedding location photos. We timed it perfectly, capturing some great moments.
We then returned to Coronation Hall for the couple’s reception. The Hall was brilliantly decorated in a rustic style, reflecting the couple’s love of all things country. A highlight of the reception was the wedding cake, which was decorated by the bride’s grandmother.
It was a perfect day, and a perfect wedding.
