The bride had arrived, the groom’s party was ready, the guests were waiting but someone had forgotten to bring the yamulkes for the wedding. After the bride’s second fly-by, the yamulkes arrived, thrown overhand to the bride’s mother and were passed out with dispatch. The wedding could proceed!
Yamulkes are a traditional head covering (skull cap) sometimes worn by Jewish males, often for religious ceremonies. They are frequently worn at weddings as a sign of respect for the tradition and formality of the event. The groom’s yamulke can differ from that of his groomsmen, with yamulkes often being presented by the groom as special gifts to the groom’s party. Yamulkes come in all different colors and materials. They can be decorated with different themes, including a specific logo, or details of a particular wedding. For Stacey and Jai’s wedding, the groom had a deep blue yamulke with the groom’s party wearing white.
The day’s wedding photography started with bride preparations at Caloundra’s Ramada Resort, in a beautiful, spacious suite overlooking the beach. It was a perfect Spring day, with brilliant blue skies and sparkling waves.
Following bride preparations, we drove to Apex Park at Golden Beach, Caloundra. The bride had selected a beautiful spot in the park overlooking the foreshore with the ocean and the occasional flock of pelicans providing a unique backdrop to this special event.
From the ceremony, we went to some local spots for wedding couple and wedding party photos. The first location was a nearby jetty, which was a favourite location of Stacey’s and a special request. From Caloundra, we headed off to the Kawana Community Centre just in time for some gorgeous sunset photos.
Inside the reception, Stacey’s wonderful bridesmaids surprised her with a giant LOVE sign. The LOVE sign provided a great finishing touch to the reception decorations and formed the centre-piece for a number of the evening’s photos.
All in all, it was a fabulous day. It was everything you could wish for in an Australian beach wedding! For another example of a sunshine coast wedding I have photographed featuring sunshine coast hinterland as well as coastal locations, check out this wedding at Secrets on the Lake.
