Emily’s wedding was scheduled for March 30 at the secluded valley greenery of Cedar Creek Lodges, but cyclone Debbie hit and the venue was flooded, leaving the bride stranded at the venue and her husband-to-be and many of their wedding guests separated by flood waters. With the support and co-operation of the lovely staff at Cedar Creek Lodges, the wedding was held over until the next day. The groom and guests made it through to the venue via backroads (as did we, turning a 45 minute drive into two hours). The groom left home after receiving a flood evacuation order, not knowing whether or not he would have a home to return to after his wedding. But, as in all the best love stories, the day was beautiful, everyone made it through and even the ceremony venue – a beautiful open-air auditorium – was available. This was wonderful as it made the perfect show-case for Emily’s carefully planned and loving ceremony which included speeches from family members and a special knot tying ceremony. It was a magicial day with many never-to-be forgotten memories!
