Kate and Joel had a small family-focused ceremony on Macleay Island. They chose to have it on Macleay Island as that was where Kate’s grandparents lived. It was a truly DIY wedding with the groom, family and friends preparing the hall, the decorations and the food and drinks in the community hall where the reception was held. It had a wonderfully Australian relaxed atmosphere from the guys kicking balloons in the hall to the children riding up and down outside the hall on bikes and skateboards. The ceremony was held on the bay foreshore and the bride walked down to the beach from her grandparent’s home.
